Cannabis & Cancer
In 2019, there is no arguing that cancer is one of the biggest threats to our health.
As a nurse, I never wanted to be involved in Oncology or Hospice, or cancer at all! But I keep finding myself in situations with family and friends who are diagnosed with cancer. This fires my passion of improving quality of life, manage the symptoms of cancer or the medications they take because of it, and even dying with dignity.
Today, the CDC predicts 1.9 million new cancer diagnoses in 2020! Just in the United States! I find that statistic rather scary, and for a long time I wanted to bury my head, not deal with, not help anyone who might be facing that statistic. Not think about that it might be me as part of that statistic.
There are many studies on minimizing symptoms related to cancer treatment like nausea from chemo or pain from radiation. And we know that the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) in our bodies regulates nausea, vomiting and pain. And we know that cannabis, with all of it cannabinoids supports our own ECS to “create balance in our bodies” called homeostasis. So it is no surprise that cannabis and CBD can be helpful throughout cancer treatment.
As a Registered Nurse, member of American Cannabis Nurse Association, and a desire to help others, I am continually learning, researching, and educating other. My job is in helping others, just like you or someone you know that may be involved with cancer.
If you would like to use cannabis or CBD as a complementary treatment to chemo, radiation, surgery, and other conventional medical treatments for cancer then as a Cannabis Nurse let me help you.
